Natural daylight is a basic human need and brings your indoor spaces to life in ways that a simple lamp can’t. Roofstores have teamed up with VELUX® to create a range of sun tunnels that can bask even the most difficult spaces in light. Experience the changing light of the seasons and times of the day, anywhere there’s a Velux sun tunnel.
What are sun tunnels?
A sun tunnel uses highly reflective material to channel sunlight from your roof, down through a tube into your room. In this way, it maximises the available light without having to install a window or skylight.
Can a sun tunnel be used on a pitched roof?
Yes, a sun tunnel can be used on both pitched and flat roofs. They are a great way to make the most of sunlight and allow previously dark rooms to benefit from added daylight.
What types of sun tunnels are available?
At Roofstores we offer both rigid and flexi sun tunnels. Rigid tubes allow for light to travel straight from the roof to the room. The less the light bounces, the more you’ll get. In general, rigid sun tunnels can offer effective light distribution of up to 20cm.
Flexible sun tunnels are best for shorter distances and instances where the space between the roof and the room is not a direct line, as it allows for negotiating around any obstructions. Flexible sun tunnels reflect less light due to their build and how they are used.
Where should I position my sun tunnel?
South-facing positions tend to get the most sunlight, so placing a sun tunnel on the south-facing part of your roof will likely get the best results.
