A natural slate tiled roof is undoubtedly one of the most traditional and beautiful roof types available. Well maintained slate roofs have a long lifespan with an unrivalled elegance. Over the last few years, a number of slate products made from fibre cement and resin have been created which are more eco-friendly and often easier to install than the natural slate, whilst still creating the sought-after appearance of a natural slate roof.
According to BS 5534 [Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling the minimum pitch for double lap slating is 20 degrees in a moderate exposure area and 22.5 degrees in a severe exposure area. Please see your exposure area in SIGA Headlaps Addendum document.
